About

Circ Consulting is a marketing and strategy consultancy, established in 2007. All of our consultants have worked as marketing practitioners – we get the environment, the stresses and the expectations that come with being a marketer.

We believe that marketing is all about getting inside the skin of the consumer or customer, using that knowledge to develop a compelling proposition and creating plans that deliver engaging and consistent experiences.

Our approach to Strategic Marketing Consulting is holistic and structured to build the components of world-class marketing into your organisation, whether marketing to the consumer or business. Strategy development in the current business environment can often be relegated to filling out templates and working on any answer rather than the best answer. Chris Bulford, Managing DirectoR

Chris is a leading strategist and marketer, with outstanding experience in both client and consultancy businesses. His passion for marketing drives his passion for facilitating great outcomes for his clients.

“Marketing creates value. For the consumer. For the retailer. And for the business.
Working with great marketers, which is what we do, is inspiring. Great marketers really do get their consumers. They can get inside their skin like a great actor embodies a role and that insight coupled with great tools will always lead to great strategy.”

His client background includes being Marketing Director of Mars Australia, Managing Director of Heinz Australia, and General Manager of Marketing for the National Australia Bank.

On the consultancy side, he worked for Booz Allen Hamilton before founding Circ Consulting. Chris has an MA from the University of Oxford, and an MBA from INSEAD, in France.

 

Rachel Cooper, Consultant

Rachel is an experienced analyst, with extensive Marketing experience, on both the client and agency side. She was a Brand Manager with Mars Australia, and has worked on client businesses in industries as diverse as FMCG and Mining. Rachel has a Bachelor of Management Studies from the University of Waikato.

“I love seeing a creative solution applied to a difficult problem.
That 'aha' moment when suddenly you see the issues in a new way and it leads you to a new strategy.”

Rachel is also an experienced tv producer, having worked in the commercial and corporate tv sectors. Her experience extends across producing film, animation and motion graphics with a focus on creative and engaging storytelling.

Kiersten Eddy, Consultant, specialist market researcher

Kiersten has an extensive marketing and research background, encompassing both client and consulting experience over 20 years. Her focus is on qualitative techniques and the subsequent development of corporate and marketing strategy based upon insight. Kiersten has designed and managed projects in many sectors including primary industries (agriculture and mining), services, industrial, telecommunications, B2B and consumer goods.

Her client background includes senior marketing management with Kraft Foods Limited, L’Oreal and Peters Ice Cream. Kiersten has a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from Monash University.

 

Mary-Ellen Vincent, Specialist Market Researcher

Mary-Ellen is a researcher and strategist with more than 20 years experience helping businesses and policy decision-makers find solutions to their questions, via tailored and insightful research programs.

Mary-Ellen has managed research operations for communications and research agencies, in Australia and New York. She's well versed in tackling research and strategy issues across a broad range of categories, including but not limited to, media/entertainment, financial services, home appliances, automotive, fruit and vegetable products, FMCG, telecommunications, social and government.

Mary-Ellen is a full member of the Research Society and is QPR accredited.

dr Mary-Jane Walker, Creative Consultant

Mary-Jane Walker is a leading creative thinker, who brings a different perspective to our clients’ problems and opportunities.

Mary-Jane is both a scientist and an artist. She worked at the Innovation Centre in the London Design Centre, and her art has been exhibited extensively nationally and internationally. She has three times been a finalist in the Australian Contemporary Textile Award.

She is now on the Audience and Engagement Committee of the Geelong Art Gallery where she is also a STEAM advisor, enriching exhibitions by bringing science and art together.

Mary-Jane has a B.AgSc from the University of Adelaide, a doctorate in Molecular Genetics from the University of Edinburgh and graduated in art from RMIT University.

Lisa Sassella, Consultant

Lisa is a senior marketing and communications specialist with experience in manufacturing and service organisations across the private and public sectors. Lisa’s career spans the fast moving consumer goods industry with companies including PZ Cussons, Dulux and Heinz, and the arts sector, as General Manager Marketing & Communications at the National Gallery of Victoria. Lisa’s previous consulting experience includes strategy planning for Telstra at Publicis Mojo, income development projects for not for profits, and brand strategy assignments.

Lisa has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and is a member of the Marketing Advisory Board at Deakin University.

DR SEAN O’MALLEY, SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT

Dr Sean O'Malley is one of Australia's leading experts in Sustainability, with unparalleled understanding of both the principles of Sustainability and the realities of running a business operation. He has successfully helped many organisations to develop and implement sustainability strategies that make a difference to their sustainability metrics and their business performance. Sean has 13 years working in sustainability across many different areas, most recently the circular economy. He spent over 10 years working for Australia’s most trusted environmental organisation, Planet Ark.

Prior to working in Sustainability, Sean was a manager in various Research and Development roles for the Mars Corporation, where he worked for nearly 15 years, in both Europe and Australia.

Sean has a BSc (Hons) from the University of Dundee, a MSc from the University of Southampton and PhD from the University of Leicester.
